Invitation to the press: International conference on nuclear waste

What are the challenges that face Sweden and other countries with regard to nuclear waste issues? This will be the theme of an international conference in Stockholm on Tuesday, 5 May 2009, where those who are responsible for the world’s nuclear waste management programs will gather.

Sweden is one of the first countries in the world to develop a method and select a site for final disposal of spent nuclear fuel. The Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co (SKB) is now hosting an international conference, and has invited those who are responsible for the world’s nuclear waste management programs to discuss challenges and exchange experiences. Hans Blix will be the opening speaker at the conference and representatives from the USA, England, France and China will be among the participants.

When:  Tuesday, 5 May 2009, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Näringslivets hus, Storgatan 19, Stockholm

The media is invited to participate in all or parts of the conference. There will be opportunities to interview the international participants. Accreditation is mandatory and can be obtained via press@skb.se
