The Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB) must strive for a high level of safety short and long-term. Our existing facilities, as well as those we plan to build, must be robust and capable of withstanding very high stresses. They must provide several barriers of protection for human beings and the environment.
But safety is not just a matter of the physical design of our facilities. It also involves working according to safe procedures and constantly training our employees.
SKB's safety work is regularly audited by public authorities and experts, both in Sweden and internationally.
