SKB has a number of websites with information on the projects in which we participate. Information of a general nature is open to the public, and information intended solely for project members is password protected.

The following are examples of projects in which we participate and links to their websites.

Task Force on Engineered Barriers

The objective of the Task Force on Engineered Barriers is development of general
and effective tools for the advanced coupled THMC analysis of buffer and
backfill behaviour:

  • Accounting for all relevant phenomena and their interactions,
    including interaction with host rock.
  • Short term and long term.
  • Computationally efficient, application to realistic cases.

Greenland Analogue Project

To advance the understanding of the impact of glacial processes on the long-term performance of a deep geologic repository, the Greenland Analogue Project was established collaboratively by SKB, Posiva and NWMO, respectively. The Greenland ice sheet is considered to be an analogue of the conditions that could prevail in Canada and Fennoscandinavia during future glacial cycles.
