The EIS describes what consequences the planned activity is expected to have for man and the environment and how they can be prevented or mitigated. The EIS is drawn up in consultation. According to the Environmental Code, consultation shall include siting, scope, design and environmental impact of the planned activity, as well as the form and content of the EIS.
The consultation procedure for applications under the Environmental Code and the Nuclear Activities Act is regulated by Chapter 6 of the Environmental Code. The consultation report will account for the consultation procedure, participants, discussions that were held and how the resultant viewpoints were handled.
Consultation reports
The consultations in accordance with the Environmental Code for the final repository system, and the Nuclear Activities Act for the final repository and the encapsulation facility, have been coordinated. They were concluded in May 2010. The applications were submitted in March 2011. An EIS was attached to the applications with a consultation report in the appendix.
The consultations for the extension of SFR started in 2010. The applications, including an EIS and a consultation report, are planned to be submitted in 2013.
