The Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company – SKB – has decided to apply for a permit to build a final repository for Swedish spent nuclear fuel in Forsmark. The selected site is adjacent to the Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant in Östhammar Municipality, approximately 150 km north of Stockholm.
The choice of the site was preceded by a comprehensive site investigation between 2002 and 2007.
