Professional Experience:

Date

2002-present

Responsible of site modelling a leading an international team (ChemNet) of 10-20 multi-discipline scientist, engineers and technicians conducting hydrogeochemical modelling at the Forsmark and Laxemar site on behalf of the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co., SKB. The investigation programme includes the development of methodologies for sampling procedures and state of the art development of tools for geochemical interpretation and modelling. Integration of geochemical data and natural isotopes in field investigations, closely integrated with geology and hydrogeology. The major outcome from the work has been: a) the development of sound groundwater sampling strategies mostly in fractured crystalline rock over a range of transmissivities, b) state of the art knowledge on geochemical processes such as groundwater origin and mixing, water rock interaction, microbial processes, redox processes and buffer capacity, c) understanding of models for delineation of recharge and discharge areas, d) building conceptual groundwater mixing models in areas of renewable groundwater systems as well as in fossil groundwater and c) improved understanding and model integration of water/rock interaction processes and fracture mineralogy.

Main author and editor of the hydrogeochemsitry background reports and hydrochemistry contribution in the Site Descriptive Modelling Report for Forsmark and Laxemar, one of the key issues in SKB’s preparation for the application for a permission to conduct detailed underground site investigations.

2005-2008

Associate Editor for special issue, Applied Geochemistry, Pergamon press

2007-present

Scientific coordinator for the NOVA FoU research platform created by Oskarshamn municipality and SKB. The aim of this platform is to facilitate spin-off effects to create local business opportunities.

1992-present

SKB, framework consultant
