The overall task of the Nuclear Fuel programme is to deliver a KBS-3 system in operation. The programme includes technology development of the KBS-3 system, conducting construction projects, preliminary safety report (operational and long term) and the license review. In addition to this, overall planning and coordination of the activities. The programme is run at the head office in Stockholm and in Forsmark (the Nuclear Fuel Repository Project) and in Oskarshamn/Äspö (technology development projects). Furthermore, the Nuclear Fuel programme is one important counterpart to the Encapsulation project.
Department of Low- and intermediate level waste

The main task of the department is to develop and carry out SKB’s program for low- and intermediate level waste. The program covers planning and development of the system for handling low- and intermediate level waste from the operation and decommissioning of the Swedish nuclear power plants.
Department of Operations

The Operations department is in charge of planning, control, follow-up and development of operations at SKB's nuclear facilities, i.e. SFR, Clab and the transportation system.
Department of Technology
Monica Hammarström
The main tasks of the department are to carry out necessary research, development and demonstration activities to support the Nuclear Fuel Programme and the Programme for low and intermediate level waste. The department consists of five units:

Department of Communication

The department is responsible for internal and external communication, media, community liaison, sponsorship and corporate image.
There are two units in the department:
- Communication Oskarshamn
- Communication Forsmark
In Stockholm, there are also press relation’s officers, web master, and persons in charge of internal and external communication.
Department of Nuclear Safety

Activities in the department include safety review, development of nuclear safety, HFE (Human Factors Engineering), physical protection and overall responsibility for SKB’s management system.
Department of Management Support

The department supports the President with intern control, follow-up and development of SKB and consists of controller, accounting and project management offices.

Business Support offers management and administrative support to all SKB employees.
